MAST – Castel Goffredo cultural centre (Museum, Art, History, Territory) was founded with the aim of telling the art and history of Castel Goffredo and the territory north of Mantua. The museum will occupy 1000 square meters provided by the St. Erasmus Parish.

Since 1 May 2010 it is possible for the visitor to take a MUSEUM TOUR VISIT inside the church ending in the Chapel of the Treasure, which exhibits some of the most valuable works of art related to the history of the Church itself. It shows the evolution of faith and art from the fifteenth to the eighteenth century, through sculptures, manuscripts, silver artifacts and reliquaries.
MAST- Castel Goffredo cultural centre has joint the Sistema dei Musei Mantovani (Mantua Museums System) and the Associazione Musei Ecclesiastici Italiani AMEI (Italian Ecclesiastical Museums Association).
This is one of the major actions for the protection and enhancement of cultural heritage that Cariplo Foundation is supporting through the funding of the Terre dell’Alto Mantovano project.
MAST Cultural Center – Castel Goffredo is composed by 4 cores:
CORSINI TOSANI MUSEUM – “Museum of the city and the northern lands of Mantua.” The unique heritage of the St. Erasmus Parish, along with the Community’s and of many citizens, can finally be properly exposed and tell the history, culture and art of our district from prehistoric times to the twentieth century. It will be the place where you can see the civil and religious history, intertwining through the centuries.
HISTORICAL PARISH ARCHIVE is rich with documents -the oldest date back to the fourteenth century- and has been increased in recent years by new acquisitions (Franceschi and Dal Prato funds).
ANCIENT LIBRARY OF THE CLERGY OF CASTEL GOFFREDO consists of over 1,000 volumes, some very rare, dating from the fifteenth to the nineteenth century, ranging from philosophy to law, from history to theology.
ART HISTORY AND LOCAL HISTORY LIBRARY is being set up in these years and is currently composed of more than 500 books. It features a section specialized in wooden sculpture that will be placed in the network in accordance with the West Mantua Library System.
